Perfect timing. I've been struggling with self boo hoo as caretaker for my husband and as a result doing everything from yard, bills, cooking, etc. Today, cleaning the litter box of our 15 year old kitty I was having a pity party, even though I should be thankful I can do these things. So post is perfect and helps me to snap out of it. I would be having this on my plate if I couldn't deal with it. As for the boom boom, yeah we have a lot of open areas here and the nerds come and start letting off fireworks and scaring the wild animals as well as pets...it's awful. Thank you for all you do despite the heavy load you have chosen to carry...God Bless You.

Thank you Dosha for reading and for what you are doing with your husband. I believe caretaking is a blessing in disguise. Those who have to caretake really have been chosen by God. So many more people than we realize have to deal with poopsidoodles and boom booms! We are not alone.

I don't live in a lake, but I can commiserate when it comes to fireworks and too crowded lakes. I typically ride my bicycle on summer weekends and around the fourth of July, the trail takes me through a lake town with a small beach and it is frustrating this time of year, people everywhere and typically blocking the path! However, the rest of the trail remains delightful and if I am lucky I get to see blue heron, pelicans, and maybe a moose. Even though fireworks are illegal in my town (high fire risk due to dry woods and pine), fireworks still go off and my poor doggy trembles and shakes.

I don't have to care take. I hear it is an exhausting job

I also have an old kitty. She's 16 and seems to share pooping characteristics with your old kitty. I typically find the turd on the litter mat right outside the litter box. She has kidney failure so I am thankful that most tinkles are done in the box. Her second favorite place to pee is the dogs bed. Poor doggie.

I can't wait until the 4th of July is over. Then every one leaves and by August the lake is deserted and back to normal. You probably see the same thing where you are Lindsay. I'm sorry to hear about your kitty. At least she tries to keep it close the box (Rusty poops wherever). I'm sure there will be a time when Rusty starts tinkling outside the box, we will just deal because we love them. Poor doggie indeed!

I do see the same, July is too busy and things are back to normal by August.

We do love them. . .even though they make messes! Watching kitties get old is hard, but they are still good pets.

Dear Napoleon and Pug,

You both feel like dear friends to me and perhaps someday we will meet up, in this life or the next. I admire your tenacity in life with your service to your family in spite of your own desires for "something different". Life can be a bitch and I sure appreciate your spin of humor on your lifestyle. It's a crack up!! Thanks for the humor and the peek inside of your reality that bites. May God bless you both and your family with what you stand in need of.

Thank you so much Charlotte for your kind words as always. You are a very smart lady. For sure we will meet up sometime. I'm glad we can make you laugh! I hope your summer is going great so far. This is our first day of real humid weather, so summer is finally here up north.

Missouri is now called Misery due to the temperature at 95 today. I have waterd my vegetable and flower gardens 3 times today and will need to check on them before bedtime. I make sure the bird bath and feeders are kept full too and I keep a dish of cat food and water for a feral yellow cat that stops by morning and evening. Those are my pets. BTW your family home and lakeside sounds wonderful!! Up state New York sounds like a nice place to live in the summer!!

I just laughed so hard I almost choked to death....still laughing can't type...it was the poopsidoodle that did it...OMG (catching breath)...my sister arrives today, she caregave for my mom (Alzheimers) for about 5 years and sometimes had to dig out the poopsidoodles.....(catching breath again)...I know it is not funny but I am rolling on the floor....the cat...omg...that gif...I have a cat that poops on the floor too and holds it, but not from old age, has been like that since I adopted. I can't imagine having to deal with all that, but Lord you are funny.

I agree about AI/Art and Aphasia (I am so old I forget words myself) and the only thing left for us to do IS to put Lipstick on the Pig.

Blessings to you. Oh my stomach hurts from laughing....thank you best laugh I've had in months.

Yes she is! I couldn't have done it! But I witnessed it! Blessings to you for being such a loving daughter (I know, we don't feel like it all the time but you ARE) and to take on your Mom (and not strangle the kitty!) I think the worst thing our society ever did was to decide the best place for our loved one when they were no longer useful was to put them in the home.

Hey Napoleon,

Just remember, it's all BS.

Find that singular thing you like - there has to be at least one thing - and get stuck into that.

It doesn't matter what it is.

Even if it's something from when you were a kid.

I posted this comment on a substack called Eugyppius last night: So far, nobody likes it. Perhaps there's a reason.

"I live in South Africa and most fortunately this sort of social nazi structure construct does not exist in any manner or form. The state is simply unable to control the South African population and herd them around like cattle awaiting their butchery of the mind, soul and being.

Of course this has led to increases in criminality, an haphazard justice system and lack of service delivery. But I'd rather get mugged, have my house broken into, and have less electricity supply, than be treated like a juvenile standing in a line at the buffet counter of the state overlord, waiting to be handed smaller morsels of food, increased amounts of injections and banged on the head with absurdist hypotheses of supporting Ukraine, being a climate change freak or thinking of having my schlong lopped off, because now and again I engage sexual role play where I'm a naughty girl and my wife is the angry headmaster

I read Eugyppius at times. His German perspective goes over my head at times. Or maybe it's his academic background. Either way not having likes on your comment is probably because SA is so much different than Europe or even the US. Didn't God's vaccine, Omicron come from SA or at least was first discovered there? See, God works through mysterious ways. God is big on free will and liberty and not so much on communism/transhumanism.

Expand full comment

Hi Napoleon and Pug,

Happy Sunday.

Apparently they sequenced the alleged "Omicron" strain in Botswana (a neighbouring country to SA).

I can't say I believe any of it.

This however did massive damage to the SA economy as all flights were suspended to SA from the rest of the world.

Thank wanker and convicted liar Boris Johnson for that.

SA ticks on nonetheless.

SA has endured far worse than the current ire of the US, who is trying to punish SA, potentially with economic sanctions, for SA's historical connection with Russia.

Talk about bullying.

All the same, here's a Monkey Dust animation for you and Pug to enjoy about modern terrorism in suburban Britain:

Insanity, entropy, chaos, the faux order of the 'Metaverse'.

Nothing makes sense, yet it does. It makes sense to manifest humanity in love and caring for your mother. It is joy, sacrifice and suffering. It is context. There is meaning and then there is are derivatives, this wonderful nexus on substack you have created.

However, console yourself?

Back in the corporate globalist fantasy of dystopian reality, things are really getting very, very nasty. Government has abrogated its role to safeguard Nation, State and Populace. It has no mandate and less constituency; it gazes into its own soulless administrative face in the mirror.

"Can you please advise who in government has the authority/power to stop the

process of vaccination with the Pfizer Comirnaty vaccine? Please include everyone or

every position that has that authority.”

~Response to your request for official information~

No individual within government has the authority to stop all use of the Pfizer Comirnaty

vaccine within New Zealand, as the vaccination programme is authorised and supported by

a network of laws and decisions. However, several roles within government have significant

influence over the scale of programme, as outlined below.

Dr Andrew Old

Deputy Director-General

Public Health Agency, New Zealand

Nice evading response from Dr. Old. No individual in govt has the authority (but then he refuses to list the laws and decisions). That leaves it up to each individual person to just say NO to drugs (as Nancy Reagan said). Yes, the reality is our own individual lives. The chaos is the made up governments and politics. I was sitting one day this week and a thought came into my head that each individual person has the ability to be joyful and happy with every single thing in his/her life, no matter what because we all have God inside us. The state, governments, laws and decisions will never excise God from our souls. Ever.

Dr Old's remark (or the reply crafted by a bureaucrat, reviewed by a GOV lawyer and okayed by the PM, signed off by Old) is an exemplar of refined disingenuousness. Parliament could stop the entire farce, which of course is not the purview of a single individual. We shall see.

God is indeed within us, even as we shakily, weakly and unreliably embrace Him.

I feel you. And appreciate the humor SO much. Promise i will never complain again because I am only on year four. People keep telling me a "respite break" would do me good. Oh, really? "And how does one go about that?" I ask... and of course no one knows. I feel you.

Thanks Desert Jewel for reading and God bless you for what you are doing even if only on year four. There are so many people who could not caretake for a relative for even one day. Seriously. I know a few of those people. Why God gives this task to some and not others is a mystery. I understand so well about the "break." Easier said than done.

Everything bothering you right now is of the world. Nothing making sense makes perfect sense to me. You know God has a sense of humor, and we end up being the but of the joke most of the time. I do like to think that we could at least be comic relief for our God. He clearly loves us enough to challenge us during this brief mortal time in the world.

AI art is soulless, ugly, and distorted. I’m certain it’s not a computer programming flaw that makes all renditions of hands and feet, even animal paws, hideous and distorted.

Anyone who thinks AI can replace doctors (and God help us, surgeons) is foolish. AI doesn’t even fathom straightforward anatomy. That means it can’t fathom biology, either. Every form has a specific function and the function relies on the form.

Now I’m rambling. I have three basset hounds, and poop collection is steady work as their service human. The trick is to get to the deposits before they start eating them.

As long as you are not bored in your daily adventures as caregiver and custodian. It may not seem like it, but your work is noble, and honor God in the execution. He has you right where He wills you to be.

Grab that Rosary and meditate with Our Dear Lady and our Lord Jesus. Right now, before bed, I may be asleep before it’s finished, so my Guardian Angel has that covered.

You are blessed. Pax Christi 🙏🏼❤️🤗

Now there's a thankless job! At least we don't have worry about Rusty eating his poop (I think). Yes, the Rosary is a wonderful way to end and begin the day. In the summer, after my run I usually sit down at the lake and recite it. So peaceful and gets me out of the world for awhile!

Napoleon,

Before beginning to type, I asked the Lord to soothe your hurts, to give you joy in caring for your mother (remembering the widows and the orphans)--because what good would it do to ask that you simply have patience in your duties?

Thanks so much VVV. I do so appreciate prayers, and try to be thankful for things as much as I can (but like Pug says I can do without the boom booms and poopsadoodles!) I've been wondering if Jesus had to take care of his father Joseph for many years. I read a book about the saints and it notes that Saint Joseph died one year before Jesus began his public ministry (I'm not sure where they get those dates from). So maybe Jesus was a caretaker for his parent for many years as well. Just a thought that keeps me going at times.

Why doesn’t the world make sense anymore?

Why are some of my most interesting conversations with the ChatBot. Why is so much “art” now totally an AI projection.

I would shut off my wifi and phone at night except I might wake up and want a news fix, besides its quiet and I might like some music, an audio book, or a kindle book.

At least in this modern hell the demons still talk to us and keep us company in the middle of the night.

Because of never getting rest without the smart phone. Never a deep meditative sleep.

"Because of never getting rest without the smart phone. Never a deep meditative sleep."

I wonder about that as well. I haven't had a good night's sleep in ages. Maybe I'm just getting older, but I feel uncomfortable every second of my sleeping hours. It was never like that before. Aches, pains, hot, cold, just plain uncomfortable. I've been putting my smart phone in my nightstand drawer to see it it's the EMF but apparently wood doesn't block it. So I'm thinking of leaving it in another room, but unfortunately I have to have it somewhat close by for emergency calls in the middle of the night. I just never remember analog phones giving me a bad night's sleep. Yes, the demons love digital technology.
