I must say, that is an idea that had not occurred to me. I had to look up "Novena". I have a daily prayer and scripture reading practice, and certain prayers do repeat almost endlessly, it would seem, particularly when I pray over the day's news. I would not consider any of this worthless or a waste of time. I have witnessed that even a very small, unspoken prayer can have life-altering effects.
You are right about "only we can fix our problems" being wrong!
Novenas are often thought of as "talismans" or good luck charm prayers. You pray them because you want something granted. But I've found they are more a peaceful meditation, no matter the outcome. I believe wholeheartedly God hears all prayers, and acts on all prayers for our good (even if we don't see an outcome or the outcome is opposite to what we want). The problem for us is when we don't pray at all - then we're not tapping into the ultimate power of Good for society, and here we are.
"I have come too early." That is how it feels in our current world. The madness goes on, and people seeing and telling the truth "have come too early." Things must go on to the bitter end. Somebody in a different stack posted a link to "The Fate of Empires" http://people.uncw.edu/kozloffm/glubb.pdf
Human history repeats itself over and over, and all Empires die. We are living through the death of the western empire, as it should be.
I put the prayer on my computer screen as a screensaver to remind me to do it bright and early. Still sometimes I forget. I've just about memorized it, and I'm terrible at memorization!

Thanks for posting that.
I keep going back to Nietzsche's madman speech and see it as a very prescient warning about where we were headed.http://historyguide.org/europe/madman.html

A culture that celebrates child murder and sodomy needs to fall.
This is a wonderful idea that I will begin today.
