Naomi Wolf's latest article on forgiving but not forgetting how the unvaccinated were/are treated in small town America. I like her articles, simple and easy to read.
Timely! Although I do not share your Catholic faith this is the message I have personally been convicted of as of late. People must get used to only speaking truth, and to have the courage to not lie when tempted to.
Yes. Our society has too easily slipped into a mode where lying is no longer seen as wrong. One thing the Catholic faith has that reminds of this fact is the sacrament of confession. When we go to confession, we have to count the number of times we lied since our last confession. We actually tell the priest "I lied ten times..." Can you imagine a society where people still do that? Actually owning up to how many times you lied. It sure puts the sin of lying out in the forefront, and I will say that it instilled in me a tendency to want to tell the truth!
You wrote an impressive sermon!! I have to agree with you that lies have hurt us the most and that we do need to be careful with our tongues to not spread discord and offense ourselves. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience with God.
Lies are the root of all evil. They don't call him the Prince of Lies for nothing. Once everything is a lie, nothing is the truth, and society collapses. Only we can stop that. Let's hope we do.
I think that's because we are looking for lies. So many people say now that they don't believe anything anyone says anymore. But the sad thing is some people are saying the truth, and we dismiss it because of the lies. Lies really do destruct society.
I agree that lies are wrong and damaging. What I mean to say is, evil ones are now showing exactly what will happen or what they intend to happen (i.e. not lying), and people are accepting it. What's equally bad is complacency with evil agendas.
Acceptance for the most part for self-perseverance, and trying for the low-hanging fruit at best. Just like trying to convince someone to quit smoking, drugs, excessive alcohol. Something needs to happen to them before they are affected. Otherwise, there truly is nothing we can do.

Thanks for the link. This is going to be important for all us lepers for a long, long, time.
Loved hearing your story. Makes me think God does speak to us, we just don't listen to or like the answer. Many many thanks for sharing.

Highly recommend Josef Pieper's short book, "Abuse of Language".
Thanks Tamsin, I will take a look.

What's equally worse is saying outright the horrible truth and people ignoring it or letting it slide.

You're right. How to counteract that?

You say God, I say Dog, otherwise same.
I see you. You can't hide.
Thanks for the link Lipid. I will read it. Satan is the prince of lies, so it all makes sense.
