1/28/22 I'm old. Yup. Does anyone remember Usenet? In the 90's Usenet was the place to be for un-censored discussions on any topic under the sun. It was a distributed discussion system consisting of newsgroups based on topics. Users posted messages (or posts) usually on unmoderated newsgroups. It was text-based unless you were on the binary newsgroups. My newsgroups of choice were alt.misanthropy, alt.bitterness and alt.angst (you can see where my head was back in the day).
The only binaries groups I used were to download music and sound effects. Got some great stuff before all that disappeared when Itunes and crap started.
Substack will eventually be moderated. I am surprised it has taken this long before Substack is censored like crappy Facebook and Twitter. I still prefer Usenet over Substack. The wild west days of uncensored Usenet was awesome and it is an experience new generations will never know.
So I wonder what will become the new “alt.binaries” :)

New generation knows nothing but compliance.
