What is amazing to me is the outrageous way these criminals behave as if they are so clever and popular. I assume that their conscience has been seared so they don't even know how they appear to others or have any cares about the consequences. May God bless us to overcome this evil in our country and hearts through fasting and prayer. Your encouraging post is most needed in these demented times.
Good morning Charlotte! In my prayers last night I told God that I truly meant what I wrote in the letter. It will be the repentance and fasting of the nobodies of this world that will save it. Jesus specifically noted the story of Nineveh in the Gospels - it's very, very important to Him and God, the outward act of penance, especially from those in positions of power. But our current society is worse than Nineveh or Sodom and Gomorrah and I truly do wonder what God really thinks of us and whether society is worth saving. God will never destroy us since the New Covenant, but He will let us destroy ourselves.
Still, as you noted before - I have hope for the current revivals happening!
Yes, I concur with your assessment of our situation. God does use man made calamities to help us turn our hearts and minds back to our Creator and Savior. It's heart warming to see the young people thirsty for a spiritual revival. I have a granddaughter that is on an 18 month mission to help gather souls who want further light and knowledge about God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. She is helping so many in her age group that are searching. She will be home in a few months and go back to her studies at college. Then her younger sister will be leaving college for her mission to wherever she is assigned. So we can see that when evil raises upward it helps many people to look to God for guidance and help.
Fingers pointing everywhere, seeking the cause of this chaos, but nary a mention of sin, the cause. Thank you for mentioning it, and for the reminder about fasting.
This is my first year in fasting - truly fasting for 24 hours. It really is hard to do, at least for me. But like prayer, constant repetition is needed. I am finding that the agitation and angry feelings I first felt when I was started fasting are now receding after each successive fast. Losing weight is a good thing too!
The church I grew up in would hold a water-only 24 hour fast once a year, not connected with Lent. My present church observes Lent, but not in a formal way. Some people there do more during the season than others. I haven't been doing much.
I do regular intermittent fasting as a heath measure, along with eating moderately low carb, and while I normally only fast for 12-16 hours of the day, I can do 24 hours without any great difficulty, and I go that long sometimes just because I am busy. I might have to go beyond 24 hours now just to begin to feel it. These are things that many people could do, if their metabolic damage isn't too great to support it.
The ancients might not have found fasting for one day difficult if they were able to eat well, because they didn't eat the crud that now passes for "food" in the Western world.
Nicely stated, Nap.
Thanks for reading ts!
Those who appear important in this world are nobody in eternity.
The first shall be last and the last shall be first!

Your granddaughters are doing great work! I've always admired people who do mission work.
