The best thing about God’s infinite love for all his creation is HIS FAITH IN US. God gave us free will because HE TRUSTS US. Original sin is a handicap that permits the temptations that let Him down. Even then, God never gives up on us.

The other great thing about God’s love for us is His sense of humor. Often a practical joker, and these are tough on us humans. But always from His infinite love for us.

This morning, I adopted a third Basset Hound in need of a home. All three of my fur angels had to get new homes because their previous owners life circumstances changed. All three were loved and well cared for. For some reason, God has entrusted me to be the service human to these three pups.

Previously I was a neurological surgeon until my hands suffered career ending permanent nerve damage almost 9 years ago. That was the cosmic practical joke on me.

Earthly fears take a back seat to living for eternity. If we can drive the demons out of this mortal realm with our trust in God, then our life’s purpose is served.

Thanks so much for adopting the doggie! I ended up with Rusty the cat, because his two previous owners' life circumstances changed too. Sometimes God looks down and says "those two belong together" and then makes it happen. Yes, God has a sense of humor and if we all looked around us, we would see it every day. Sometimes his humor seems mean, like what happened to you in your career, but God wanted you on another path, and that was the only way to get you there. We'll find out the reasons for all this in the end, and it will be so obvious then (no pun intended).

Thank you Duchess for reading. The little yellow saying I have in the post sits on my computer screen saver. I read it every morning. I don't know who wrote that saying, but it helps me keep going!

I hope that little yellow saying is true...I very much want to believe in God and Jesus Christ, and I waiver a lot, but I cannot bear that there is not a God. This world can be terrible, but it is also breathtakingly beautiful. I find it hard to believe it wasn't created on purpose by someone or something so incredible, we can barely grasp the concept. So I choose please an eternal and everlasting and loving God, and that we are also his creations. And trust all will be explained when I die.

I had to look up who said that quote: it's St. Robert Bellarmine. I've waivered most of my life in belief until the last five years. The gaining of faith is a long, hard road for almost all of us.

I can see that as the next big push by humans to screw up the world. They're already messing around with the bees.

Yes, the fear mongers are doing a good job keeping the masses in dire straits. Faith in God is the key to happiness and peace and you have laid out the plan nicely.

I got most of my post from a fire and brimstone sermon this past Sunday. You would think a homily of "going to hell" would be a dark and depressing thing to listen to. Instead, I came out with a joyous feeling. The priest did a great job of uplifting and empowering people to action in living a more peaceful and happy life among all the fear.

I look forward to going to my church as well because of the uplifting message of peace and happiness despite the commotion of oppression we face. Plus I love being with the little children that are so precious and innocent in our class of four and five-year-olds.

Hi Napoleon,

An insightful piece - well done ;))

Don't you think it's more a case of the emptiness within and the absence of meaning that drives people to be fascinated by the gory details - a chronic rubber-necking loop - to use a highway carnage metaphor.

This is why people love celebrity gossip and scandal - because the only time their vacuous lives mean something is when the richer, better looking, way more successful god of the screen is brought down to earth with a thump. Then the individual finally feels a sense of equality and their unbearable existence has some meaning.

It's a malevolent psychopathology.

A wholesale mental illness.

Not sure if prayer will help such individuals. And I'm not knocking prayer my brother.

In Judaism, there's a teaching that God helps those who help themselves - this comes out in the story of Purim.

A substantial part of society does not want to help itself anymore.

It wants rules, government handouts, freebies, endless direction.

Hard work is simply unbearable.

Struggle is for peasants.

Consuming horseshit online about other people's lives is the biz.

I'm all sympathied out for lazy moaning people.

Absolutely it is all a case of emptiness in our lives. Our lives are awful, so we're happy to see that other people's lives are worse. But the problem is that we keep focusing on this life and the things and fears here. The ultimate goal of all that we do here on this earth is to get to the next life. Lord, let this world not be the end-all of all existence, because if it is, what is the point of all our fears?

Still you are right, when we are here we have to work and struggle. Work is a great way to overcome fear or at least forget about all the fears for awhile. Getting rid of the TV and twitter/facebook is another good way.

Exactly. Humans can't fathom eternity. If we could, we might live our lives differently here on earth.
