Interesting tidbit at Mass last night. Listening to the Homily the Priest was talking about exactly what I wrote. Do you read my stack Father Boyle? Nah, I know he doesn't. Just God reaffirming what He wants me to learn. The soul is the most important treasure we have.
Fascinating article Napoleon. I had a recent debate with a Jewish friend who claims that Jews believe in reincarnation and even coming back as an animal for past life sins. This sounds like anathema to me but I am not an expert in Judaism. I do know that they have a belief in a finite number of souls which can be shared??!! For me, the Truths revealed by Our Lord Jesus are so simple, so logical, so beautiful and so mystical that I can’t understand why other religions exist but of course I’m biased.
When I was writing this post I read article after article about the Jewish view on the soul. I thought it would be similar to a Christian/Muslim view, but it's not. Like you said, I'm not an expert in Judaism, but the soul is not really talked about and the afterlife is not talked about as well. It's all a focus on this world and how to live in it until the Messiah comes. That's all I really know of Judaism - they are still waiting for the Messiah and the focus is on this world. I keep saying I'm going to do a deep-dive into Judaism some day...
A couple of months ago I was blessed by a stroke. You may indeed be surprised to read such a statement. Due to atrial fibrillation, my left ventricle hurled a clot up into my brain. Emergency clot busters and clot retrieval surgery had me discharged from hospital in 4 days, and within those days my complete aphasia and alexia disappeared and within a few weeks I returned close to my usual degree of expressed debate and analysis. However, my most abiding insight was an awareness and extraordinary reinforcement from The Lord, that life was short and fragile, and that when one receives the wake-up call of Divine attention, it is compelling. His absolute comfort and assurance were always present, and while I know not the future time nor place, I absolutely know that I need to keep attending to the work He has asked of me with the trust and assurance of His will and guidance.
Thank you for all you do, for your prayers Napoleon. Your trust in Him is so well placed.
I'm so sorry to hear about your stroke Dr. But I'm glad to hear about your recovery. A stroke is serious business with often permanent disabilities. I know from taking care of my mom for 30 years after her stroke. Life is short, too short for what we should be doing but we don't. You are completely right - when God wants us to do something we should do it - no matter the cost. I keep coming back to what Jesus told me once when I was so depressed about my life and the world - "everything is as it should be." No matter what happens, everything is as it should be. God has it under control and is just waiting for us to get it under control as well by relying on Him. Thank you Dr for you great comments and I look forward to future posts on your stack.
It is a hard thing to do to glorify God when you cannot see/hear him physically. Plus humans have an ego and then there is satan and his demons constantly attacking us with doubt. Faith in God and praise to God is the key to human life.
Isn't it though? So simple. That's it. To glorify God and enjoy Him forever will provide paradise for man. To do the opposite will provide hell. People (and 1/3 of the angels) always say "God is a narcissist who only wants praise. I don't want a God like that." But guess what people? We are not God, we do not know His ways. God created us to glorify Him and reside with Him forever. It's our choice whether we want to do that or not. It's all up to us. God will not mandate us to glorify Him. If we reject Him, we suffer the consequences of our own choosing. "For what shall it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his soul?"
What a GREAT article to have my coffee with! Thank you! That is the point of our life here...THE SOUL! One of my favorite, daily reading books is “The Imitation of Christ”, Thomas a Kempis. He writes about this throughout his writings. I highly recommend this little book, written anonymously in 1418!
Thank you so much Renee for reading. I am going to read that book. I think I saw that title once and was thinking of buying it. Thank you for the recommendation. It only took me 56 years to finally figure out the point of life. As you say - it's the soul. No matter what happens in this world, we must save our souls, and only we can do it. Such an empowering thought. I thought about this last night - during the whole covid freakout, none of the overlords had any control over my soul. They couldn't touch my soul, no matter what they mandated. As Jesus simply said:
"And fear ye not them that kill the body, and are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him that can destroy both soul and body in hell." This spiritual warfare is all about the soul.
Amen Kokanee. Faith is indeed something that I have never had and still struggle to get. If I ever truly do have faith the size of a mustard seed, as you say, I will then be free.

Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary...

Laus Deo Semper and gratitude Napoleon.
Thank you for this uplifting article.
Thank you Charlotte for reading! It's been a busy summer, I hope you and your family are doing well. God bless.
What is the chief purpose of Man? To glorify God and enjoy Him forever. It's just that simple.
Amen. Jesus consistently praised God by prefacing many of his teachings with "My/The Father"

I don't want to find out.
......."I don't want a god like that"---you would prefer Moloch, perhaps

AMEN to that Napoleon! The soul is our God connection on this physical plane. May you have guidance and discernment, in Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen…

Cool video thanks Kokanee!
