“They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit.” – Acts 6:5
A Name With Legacy
Stephen Miranda was born with a name rooted in legacy. His first name—Stephen—was no accident. His parents named him after the bold and faithful martyr in Acts 6. His last name, Miranda, is a badge of honor carried from his father, a proud Puerto Rican, disabled veteran, devoted husband of 58 years, and most importantly, a man of deep faith.
The Illusion of Success
Stephen grew up immersed in Christian values. Church pews, Bible verses on the fridge, prayers before dinner—these were all familiar rhythms. But as the years rolled forward, the steady beat of faith began to fade beneath the noise of the world. At 18, Stephen left home for college and, like many, left behind the faith of his childhood. What began as independence slowly became rebellion. And that rebellion lasted much longer than he ever intended.
For years, Stephen chased the things culture said would make him happy—career success, relationships, and the comforts of adulthood. From the outside, everything looked like it was falling into place. But on the inside, something was missing. He found himself at a crossroads: full hands, but an empty heart.
A Gentle Nudge From God
That was when Jesus stepped in.
Not with thunder or flashing lights, but in a quiet nudge. One Sunday morning, Stephen found himself walking through the doors of a church near his home. It wasn’t dramatic. It didn’t feel like a lightning bolt. It was more like a whisper—a reminder of where he came from and, more importantly, Who had never left.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10
In that stillness, faith was reborn. Stephen didn’t need noise or hype. He needed silence—and in that silence, God spoke.
Living With Purpose
It took time. A few visits here and there. A tug in his spirit. And then, one Sunday morning, something cracked wide open. Stephen re-dedicated his life to Christ—not out of guilt, not out of pressure—but out of a deep realization that he was tired of running. Jesus had never stopped pursuing him. Even when Stephen ignored Him, even when he knew better and chose otherwise, grace waited.
Today, Stephen Miranda is a changed man. Not perfect. Not polished. But redeemed. He's on fire for the Lord, not out of pride but out of awe. Awe that the same Savior who chose Stephen in the Bible is still choosing broken men like him today.
And now? Stephen’s walking out “The Great Commission.” He's sharing the gospel. He’s testifying. He’s reaching out to those who feel like they’ve gone too far or waited too long. Because he knows the truth: it’s never too late for a comeback when Jesus is involved.
Conclusion
Stephen Miranda’s story is proof that Jesus doesn’t just save us once—He pursues us again and again until our hearts are home. And when we surrender, we don’t just find faith. We find freedom. We find purpose. We find fire.
Couldn’t not be prouder of my literal brother. His heart & growth have been exciting to watch as God molds him.
Thank you, Mark for sharing my testimony this way. While this is my story, it’s not about me, it’s about the faithfulness of God, he never gives up on us…thank you again, you truly are a brother in Christ. 🙏🏽
