There was a time in my life when I was angry, hateful, and lost in the bottle. Drinking wasn’t just a habit—it was an escape. I didn’t care who I hurt or how far I drifted from truth. My heart was hard, and my pride kept me from seeing the destruction I was sowing in my own life.
But God.
Everything changed the night of the car accident. In a split second, my life was flipped upside down. I was left broken, helpless, and abandoned—literally. The friend I had trusted most left me at the scene, leaving me to face the wreckage alone. But even there, God met me.
In that quiet, painful place, I couldn’t fight anymore. I had no choice but to submit to the One I had pushed away for so long. And in that submission, I found something I never expected: forgiveness.
God showed me how to forgive my friend, even though the pain ran deep. It wasn’t easy, but it was necessary. Forgiveness set me free. And through it all, I began to truly understand grace—not the kind we hear about in passing, but the kind that holds you when you can’t even lift your head. The kind that doesn’t require perfection, but repentance.
I know now that I will never make it into heaven on my own merit. I rely completely on the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. His blood, not my behavior, is what saves me. His mercy, not my performance, is what gives me hope.
That doesn’t mean the road is easy. I still struggle. I still face temptation. The narrow path is just that—narrow. It’s not a one-time choice; it’s a daily walk, a lifelong journey. But every step I take, I take with Him. And every stumble I make is caught by His grace.
If you’re standing in the wreckage of your own choices, know this—God hasn’t given up on you. There’s grace for you, too. Surrender to Him. Let Jesus carry what you can’t. The path may be narrow, but it leads to life. Choose it today.
