The next year will be hard for us lepers who have been ostracized, ridiculed, harassed, banished from jobs and family, and overall crapped upon for simply being right. It will be even harder than what we have already gone through.
What? What do you mean Napoleon?
I mean it will be hard forgiving the "about-facers" who are now saying and doing what we said and did for two years during the "me-too covid freakout." Forgiving the about-facers for destroying our lives is not something any of us really want to do, but we have to. Why? Because God and Jesus said so, for our sake. That's it.
Forgiveness taught by God is oh so very hard, and sometimes impossible to achieve. It goes against human nature and common sense. Forgive people who don't care about us? Who are narcissists? Who destroyed our lives and now deny they did? Who never even asked nor will ever ask for our forgiveness? Who are pretending that they were right all along? Who are hypocrites?
Yes.
"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." (Luke 23:34) Jesus' words on the cross is the ultimate teaching on forgiveness. Jesus looked down on the soldiers that crucified him, the people still deriding him, and the apostles that abandoned him, and asked God to forgive them because they were ignorant. If he could do it, we can do it too. We can forgive those people who were and still are ignorant. Literally the people who ostracized us are ignorant and do not know the truth of anything. They can't know the truth of covid, or anything in life if they do not know the Truth. Their eyes are scaled, their hearts are closed. Saying "I told you so" and trying to get an apology out of the about-facers will never work. They don't know they are wrong, they are ignorant.
Thus, instead of harboring this anger at the about-facers for what they did to us lepers, we need to forgive and let God be our redeemer to administer justice. When we forgive, we act as God acts toward us. None of us are sinless, yet God forgives us during Confession. Yes, Napoleon, but when we confess our sins to God we are asking for forgiveness and none of the about-facers are asking us lepers for forgiveness. Correct. We are not God, the about-facers don't need to ask OUR forgiveness. They need to ask for God's forgiveness and when they don't they will be judged accordingly. In the meantime we should strive to be like Jesus and ask God to forgive them and their actions because of their ignorance.
Now, here is the catch. Jesus never said "forgive and forget." That is a human proverb concocted in the 1500's. The Lord's Prayer says "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us." (Matt 6:12) It doesn't add a second line "and then forget about it." When Jesus forgave the sins of the adulteress woman who was about to be stoned, he said "Neither do I condemn you; go, and do not sin again" (John 8:1-11). Jesus does not say "go and all is forgotten." He said "do not sin again." Jesus is not forgetting the woman's sins and reminds her of this fact by instructing her not to do it again. We should do the same with the about-facers.
Never forget how we were treated as lepers by the about-facers (should we truly be released from our leper colony in the future). Remind the about-facers how they sinned and to not do it again to any future leper. Vote out politicians who foist this madness. Remove children from schools who keep perpetuating this demonic evil. Fire doctors/medical people who turn a blind eye to the death and harm they are causing. Boycott businesses who voluntarily keep lunatic mandates. Quit jobs from employers who treat employees as lepers. End relationships with people who truly have no love or even concern for you. That is never forgetting.
To be Christian is to be forgiving, but not to be an enabler of evil, demonic behavior. The about-facers and their unrepentant ignorance will find this out, here on earth in the next year, and in the next life for eternity.
I am sure God has a problem with me having a problem with IPDITs and About-Facers (aka hypocrites/liars). I should forgive the demonic/murderous actions of the tyrannical IPDITs for my own sanity and salvation. But I will not forget and I will continue to point out the evil IPDITs murderous ways. Even Jesus had enough when he whipped the evil people/sellers in the Temple.
Thank you. This was helpful. Our family has been badly hurt by the lockdowns. My son-in-law committed suicide and all children and grandchildren have been”shot” 3 times. Oldest daughter now has terminal cancer. They think I am demented for not vaxxing.
