Dear God:

I was saying the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary last night and it finally sunk in to me that when Jesus was resurrected he did actually appear to everyone as flesh and blood. He was physically real, touchable and was the only person in the history of the world to have his physical matter rise from the dead, never to die again.

I guess before I just assumed he was a spirit, coming back to whisper things to his disciples and then waft away. But that was not how it was according to the Gospels. Sure, during his 40 days on earth after he rose he seemed to come and go like a spirit and transform his appearance, but when Jesus was with people he was a solid as we are. Man and God.

So this all got me thinking about Jesus' second and final coming to earth. How will it happen? How will the entire earth know it? Will he come as a physical being, and how is that possible over the entire earth?

From the day I was born, I've had this feeling that 2033 is the year. The year of what? Probably most likely my death, but secretly I have always hoped it was the year of Jesus' second coming. It will be exactly 2000 years from his death and resurrection. Lord, you like numbers and round figures, why not?

What will it be like, to say for argument's sake, when Jesus comes back in 2033? The entire world will have to see the same thing at the same time. Jesus coming in a cloud will have to be seen in NY as well as Paris as well as Tokyo. Imagine that! And it won't depend on time zones or the weather or whether it is night or day.

Of course the logistics of his return can be done. You are God and can do anything. For me, as a human with my limited physical experience I keep thinking how it would actually happen - Jesus, Man and God physically everywhere at one time.

It will surely be glorious to behold. I would love to see it in my lifetime, even though most likely I won't. But Jesus has to come back someday, in somebody's lifetime, he said so.
