Dear God:

I have always wondered why the worst people have the most power in this world. Why are there always wars and holocausts and the rulers of this world are always so hell-bent on destroying everything?

Then I read today's Gospel, which I have read many times, the fasting in the desert, and one sentence in Luke stood out to me: The devil said to him (Jesus), "I shall give to you all this power and their glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I may give it to whomever I wish."

That would certainly explain the state of the world and why the worst people have all the power. Certainly satan wouldn't give worldly power to the best people. Satan obviously chooses the most evil, ignorant, compliant, and soul-less people to rule the world.

But why God did You give him the power here on earth? According to the Bible, after the fall of lucifer, he was given the earth. Why? I guess it is not for us to know the reasons why. The only thing we need to know is that You work all evil to good. I think as a species we have lost that knowledge. We look around and only see evil. War, war, war! Death! Injections! Mandates! Children being harmed! Fauci! Biden! Awfulness is everywhere.

If I was an atheist or agnostic I sure would be depressed, knowing that this evilness is all there is. I guess that is why there are many atheists and agnostics in places of power. But what is more distressing is that are are many more so-called Catholics and other religious people in power, who are evil, prideful and hypocritical to the core. How do you turn that to good?

I know that for the past two years, many people have come or returned to a faith in You. The amount of atheists and agnostics that have become believers in a mere two years is probably more than would ever happen in a century of peace and prosperity. That is the good coming from evil. Evil rulers must exist on earth for the good people to make it to Heaven. Seems counter-intuitive to us mere mortals who have to exist in this madness. But there it is.

Here's how Paul summed it all up: "Put you on the armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood; but against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of this darkness, against the spirits of wickedness in the high places . . . Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, having on the breastplate of justice, and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in all things taking the shield of faith, wherewith you may be able to extinguish all the fiery darts of the most wicked one"

I guess we have to live with the world being ruled by wicked people. It will never change. Good people will not come to power, no matter how many elections we have. Satan has assured that and You allow it for the good of everyone. I can't really wrap my head around that as a mere mortal, but I accept it, as You are all good and always win.
