Dear God:
Happy Christ the King Feast Day yesterday! It's always good to be reminded of who is the King over everything especially when we are embroiled in our political royalty madness as we are every November.
Human beings love our royalty and important people, don't we? Here in the good ole US of A, we may not have a monarchy, but we sure do have royalty. It's all the important people - the ones with money, influence, political jobs, fame. Every November, the US subjects get to pay homage to that royalty and pretend that our mortal kings and queens matter and have our best interests at heart.
They don't, they can't. They are human. They are not the true kings and queens of this world. There is only one King - Jesus - the nobody on earth (“can anything good come from Nazareth?), the pauper, the loser, the one who was killed as a common criminal and forgotten. There is only one King who can provide all His subjects with peace, love, mercy, forgiveness and everlasting life. The other people we treat as kings and queens can provide us nothing. They are not here for us, they are here for themselves. They are the princes and princesses of this world, and yet we worship them and forget about the King who is all powerful, even over them.
Why do we worship our mortal royalty? Why do we think our mortal royalty are going to uphold our God-given values of freedom, peace, justice, love, etc.? Why do we keep voting in our princes and princesses and then become disappointed when this royalty is shown to be selfish and evil? Because our human hope springs eternal every November.
I'm not a political person, Lord. I've been disillusioned by the important people for a very long time. Both sides are one and the same. Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Humans can’t help become corrupted when given power over other humans. It's inbred in us. But as hope springs eternal even within me as a human, I ask Lord that you bless this November election. Jesus, as the King of Kings, place Your princes and princesses in seats so that Your will can be done for once. If nothing else can be done, please God let the lies and cheating stop. It's time for a fair election of our human royalty and the results should be the truth, no matter the consequences.
Whatever happens in November, please Lord help us to remember that Christ is King, over all, and who wouldn't want to be ruled by someone who would give his life for them? Would our human princes and princesses give their lives for us? Absolutely not. Yet we want their rule. Everybody, atheists, agnostics, believers, Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, pagans, etc., want to be ruled by the important humans who only kill, maim, cheat, lie to, and abuse them. But for some reason we don't want to bend a knee to the all-powerful King who has mercy, forgiveness, love, freedom, peace, and everlasting life to give to us. We don't even have to vote for this King - only believe.
Happy Kingship Day Jesus! May Your Will and Power guide us in our human royalty day on November 8th.
Sincerely,
Napoleon
I agree with you 100%. We should all be praying for our country and our world to be cleansed from the evils of our day and examine ourselves to see what changes we need to make to draw closer to the Holy Spirit for needed guidance and repentance.
Amen
