When Ana Murby was growing up, questions about faith weren’t welcome. She was raised in a legalistic Christian environment where asking “why” felt like rebellion. Church taught her rules—but not relationship. So in her early twenties, she did what many quiet strugglers do.
She walked away.
Like the woman at the well, Ana had lived through more than one broken relationship and carried a past that she didn’t talk about publicly. She wandered far in search of freedom, but all she found was more pain, more compromise, and more shame.
But God never stopped pursuing her.
Leaving Religion—Finding Jesus
Ana’s path away from faith wasn’t loud or dramatic. It was subtle, slow, and deeply personal. She drifted, chasing what the world promised would fill her soul. Years passed. Mistakes stacked up. Regrets grew.
And yet—so did God’s mercy.
At thirty years old, after the heartache of her second divorce, Ana found herself exactly where the Samaritan woman in John 4 was: empty, tired, and unexpectedly seen. God met her there. In the wreckage. In the wilderness. At the well.
She didn’t experience some grand, emotional altar call. Just a quiet moment with a Savior who still wanted her, despite everything.
Grace She Didn’t Deserve
Today, Ana looks at her life and sees grace where she expected judgment. She sees a loving husband, children she adores, and a second chance she didn’t earn.
Like the woman at the well who left her water jar and ran to tell the town about the man who “told me everything I ever did,” Ana carries that same urgency. She wants others to know: God can redeem anything.
He delivered her from a porn addiction. He’s given her peace even as she faces the heartache of a prodigal child. And He’s transforming her daily from the bitter, angry mom she used to be into someone more patient, more surrendered, more full of His Spirit.
Her story, like the woman’s in Samaria, isn’t just about her sin. It’s about her Savior.
For the One Who Feels Too Far Gone
Ana isn’t sharing her story because she got everything right. She’s sharing it because Jesus did. Because in the darkest parts of her journey, He still called her beloved. Because He met her at her own modern-day well and offered her living water.
If God can redeem a woman with five past husbands and a reputation that made her an outcast, He can redeem anyone.
If He can reach a weary, angry, heartbroken woman in her thirties—He can reach you.
